Analyzer Make
Is it possible to make our computer act like a CRO to show real time waveforms.. by installing some software?
I have a situation where i should measure rectangular waveforms of pulse widths in the order of several micro seconds. This requires a digital CRO and i am not able to get it anywhere. Logic analysers in my college lab are not showing real time waveforms generated on a micro-controller pin.
So. i have a plan of making my computer act like a CRO which gets its inputs from 25pin connector, or usb or something else .
Is there some software which simulates a CRO and accepts real time signals which can be installed on my computer?
Yes, it is but you need to buy also a data acquisition card for your PC.
You need very fast A/D converters and appropriate probes.
Cage (http://www.gage-applied.com/) has a variety, but any search on PC oscilloscopes, or PC data acquisition will give you a variety of options. You actually need a PC card for a Logic analyzer (works better than a CRO for digital signals).

Spectrum analyzers may seem really technical and scientific to the ears. This is because spectrum analyzers are often used in factories and in laboratories.
Spectrum analyzers are instruments that is used to receive and select frequency levels based on the superheterodyne principle.
