Barrel Light Effect How do scopes work on firearms?
I know they magnify the image and all that, but how can they be so incredibly accurate over long distances without being in the same position as the barrel? From what I've learned about refraction and reflection of light, they can't be 100% accurate. The scope must have to be designed to point downwards slightly to allow it to be accurate, so there must be a range where the centre of the scope and the intended trajectory of the projectile (via the barrel) meet...
For example, if you somehow had a rifle that had a range of 100k/m, had the scope (adjusted for the distance) pointed at the target, and fired, it would hit a bullet sized target perfectly (ignoring all sensible factors e.g gravity etc). But would it hit a target perfectly at 1k/m? I don't think it would.
Is it just that the mathematics behind this have little effect when it comes to the distances relating to guns? I'm thinking the scopes just suit their intended distances, and all the above was just mathematical stuff...
Shooters generally calibrate their scopes for some set distance, like 100 yards, and make adjustments from there when shooting at other distances.
They mostly have to adjust for bullet drop due to gravity though. And lag due to the speed of the bullet. And wind.
I'm sure the effect you're talking about is there, but I think it's kind of dwarfed by these other factors.

No, Wall of Revealing Light is a cost. You pay for the cost. It does reduce your LP but it doesn't Inflict Damage. You're just paying for the cost.
