Cardioid Condensor

Can you record vocals for an E.P. on a GXL2200 Cardioid Condensor Microphone yourself then have it mastered?
Is it mandatory to record vocals in a studio with an expensive microphone to release an E.P. or is an average condensor microphone good enough?
Of course not, you can create whatever sound you want with whatever mic's you choose - I am sure that even dynamics have been used on pro recordings before now... there are guidelines but no hard and fast rules - you make your own sound...
