Channel Light Dimmer
My Subs randomly wouldn't work when I turned my car on and now the light on my amp is dim. Any Ideas?
I installed my dual 10" Rampage subs today with my mate and they were working really well with my 4 x 300W Rampage amp. I drove around for a while and they were working fine. When I tried to leave home again, my subs wouldn't work when I turned my car on. I had 2 x 300w channels running through them and they are rated 900W total. There is only one input in the box. The cones aren't stiff, they are the same as they always were. I tried using the other 2 channels to no result. I have double checked all the connections and everything seems fine. Can anyone suggest what may be wrong?
bad Earth....check all wiring and fixings to body.
tighten Earth screws/connections.

I have a 4 channel amp running 4 speakers at 55 W RMS each, and dual subs running at 600W RMS, which means a total of 880 W RMS.
What would be most effective to reduce car light dimming and increase the lifetime of the alternator ?
to fix dimming you need more power. caps dont create power, and neither do batterys. a H.O alt is the only way to really create more power. there fore the best thing to do is also the most expensive, get a H.O alt.

Finally! An AskScience question that is right up my street. Optical fibres are used in literally hundreds of different applications. These fall into roughly 2 broad categories, as described below. 1. The first category is the most obvious, that is applications where the fibre is simply used to transmit light from one location to another with minimal loss. Applications here include internet/data/phone/etc. transmission. Other applications for this category would include medical imaging, for example illuminating the body part being investigated using an endoscope. My area of expertise is in an imaging technique called Optical Coherence Tomography. This makes use of the interference properties of broadband (white) light to produce cross sectional images in scattering tissue. The systems use various laser-like light sources and almost exclusively use optical fibre to channel light to a sample, collect it and do the interference etc. 2. The second category is what I would call “fibre-based devices”. These include fibre amplifiers that can be spliced into lengths of normal (dumb) fibre in order to reduce losses in, for example under-sea data transmission. Other devices include whole categories of fibre-based light sources including fibre lasers, where an optical fibre is employed as the laser gain medium. Other light sources include supercontinuum light sources that make use of special optical fibres called photonic crystal fibre (PCF). These can produce highly broadband (many wavelengths) light after being excited using a high-power laser. I’d say there’s a fair few useful things there, and many I have not covered. Also, excuse my spelling of fibre/fiber, I’m British.

Ok, so what you have there is a motor/transmission rated at 200lbs load requiring a 24v input with a max draw of 70 amp (2x 12v batteries in the pic you posted). I would start off by connecting everything as it was when it was on the chair and feeding it 24v (2 car batts in series will do nicely) and see if the motor will spin up using the controller and joystick you already have. If it does then it will be easier to rip into the joystick and add a potentiometer (think twisty style light dimmer) so you can set it however you want.
