Chauvet Lighting Double Derby X - NLFX Professional
This was known as the "tired light" theory. It gets resurrected every 20 years or so.
It was wrong when it first came out. It was wrong when I first heard about it 40 years ago. It was wrong when someone tried to make it popular again (it never becomes popular with real scientists because it is so easy to prove wrong).
It is still wrong today.
It will be wrong when someone "discovers" it again in 2028.
The main problem with it is the changing speed of light (and there are many other smaller problems with it).
Cosmological redshift is caused by the fact that the photon itself is expanded as it travels over long time periods. Observations by WMAP and other probes fail to show that the speed of light changes over time.
Light does dissipate in water. The shorter wavelengths are dissipated first because they are closest (in wavelength) to the size of water molecules — therefore they react readily. It takes longer for the longer wavelengths to interact.
It is NOT a case of the photons being stretched to longer wavelengths as they travel through water. This is very to check in a lab (and it has been checked).
