How do I switch to Dolby Digital Surround EX on the Koss KS5192?

I recently bought a Koss KS5192 Surround Sound System, and am having difficulty switching to the Dolby Digital Surround EX option on the unit. Can anyone help me out?

Google the" model number owners manual pdf " You should be able to find it there or try the Koss website.
Good Luck!

All About Digital Surround Sound

One of the options that you have now with satellite TV programming from DirecTV and Dish Network is high definition TV programming. The word high definition refers to the picture that you get on the screen of your TV, because it is a far more precise and defined picture with high definition TV programming.

The audio feature that you get with high definition TV programming is also special, in that it comes in digital surround sound that also uses Dolby noise reduction technology to refine the sound quality that you hear. With standard format the signal can’t be cleaned up before it is presented to you on your TV and this is why you sometimes get static on the screen and in the sound feature as well.

When the signal is digitized it is converted to a computer digital code before it is sent out and then it is able to be cleaned up after it is received. Signals pick up unwanted interference and other stray signals after they are broadcasted out and if the unwanted material isn’t removed it can distort what you see and hear on your TV set after they arrive at your satellite dish or antennae.

A simple analogy would be if two people were trying to communicate across a busy highway and they had the choice of yelling to each other, or writing a note and then throwing it across the highway. If they yell across the highway the message will get through, but there will be some unwanted noise that can’t be avoided as well. With the written note there will be some unwanted dirt on the note, but it can be removed and the message can be communicated in far more detail this way.

This is how a digital signal is sent and the computer in you satellite receiver removes what ever isn’t supposed to be in the signal and you get a far more detailed signal. DirecTV and Dish Network both have high definition programming packages that can be added to any one of their regular programming packages and while Dish Network is the leader with thirty-one high definition channels, DirecTV’s twelve channels package is less expensive.

Dish Network specializes in premium movie programming and DirecTV is the sport specialist in broadcasting with more premium and ultra-premium sports channels than any other TV programming service provider. This means that between the two TV programming service providers you have a lot of choices for your TV programming even if you are on a budget.

For instance you can sign up for DirecTV’s economical forty channel Family Choice programming package, add on their two ultra-premium sports channels which are NCAA Mega March Madness and NFL Sunday Ticket along with their economically priced twelve channel high definition package. With this combination you have the best in high definition sports programming at your disposal and it is all done within your budget.

Or you can opt for Dish Networks Americas Everything package along with their thirty-one channels of high definition and then you will have two-hundred and fifty channels, including the best premium movie programming that is available and thirty-one of them will be in high definition. You can find out more about high definition and digital surround sound by contacting either of these two programming service providers online.

Glenn, In my mind I had three boxes of the year (360, Roku XD, Sonos S5) and then offered up some alternatives (like the PS3 or WDTV Live Plus) and a few to keep an eye on (TiVo, Boxee, AppleTV).
