IKECHUKWU CONFESSES GETTING INTO BED WITH DON JAZZY
First of all… for those of you who actually thought I meant that Ikechukwu was doing Don Baba J, y’all need to get your heads examined. That’s just nasty! Now to the above caption, my comment is DUGH! The inevitable finally happened. Now for those of you who don’t know Ikechukwu, he is the bad DMX look alike you see walking pass in D’banj’s video… not Wande Coal’s video but D’banj’s video. I mean, hey… if your gonna kiss a$$, why not kiss the biggest or the second biggest… whichever one that’s closer to your lips.
Now everyone had been talking about how Ikechukwu had been making an obviously desperate attempt to be one of the proud members of the Mo Hits crew… I guess it finally paid off didn’t it?
The lanky, bordering on painfully thin rapper who was once a devout and loyal member of one of Nigeria’s strongest entertainment family- Storm Records, didn’t look back as his estranged relationship with the records boss, Obi Asika finally crashed and burned. Now one needs to ask oneself… ‘What is wrong with the record label… or more importantly, what is wrong with the label owner that a chunk of its artistes are in a hurry to find greener pastures?’ Ikechukwu now joins fellow artistes Jazzman Olofin and Darey art Alade who both left because they felt STORM RECORDS was not doing enough for their careers. Bummer! Now Ikechukwu can boast of having one more enemies to loose sleep over because as sources tell us… Obi is piping hot at the moment.
You know how annoying it is for a man to watch his wife hang out with a guy finer than him, richer than him, in better shape than he is in and he calls her almost every time and asks, ‘Are you sure there’s nothing between the both of you?’ and then the lady laughs it off and tells him that no man is as perfectly suited for her as he is (Yeah… if I had a nickel for every time I’ve heard that line) and then, a couple of months pass and he comes home one day and sees divorce papers and then learns that she is leaving him for the same dude? Well, that is the case between Ikechukwu and Obi Asika. Sources say that Obi got uncomfortable with the way his prize artist kept throwing himself at the Mo Hits bosses- Don Jazzy and D’banj and yes… he THREW!!! Himself at them, no questions asked. You don’t see Naeto C fighting to do waka pass for any of D’banj’s video do ya? And in case you didn’t know IK… na waka pass you dey do. No let person lie to you. So no one can blame Obi for having a bruised ego. The man has just being lied to and dumped… AGAIN! Shame on you IK.
On a more professional level, what do you do when the company who is supposed to be taking care of your interest and prompting you to greater things just isn’t moving at the speed you are moving? Do you stay out of loyal and watch as your dream and energy withers away on the inside of you, or do hitch the next bus going to another label? Technically… and I can’t believe I am saying this… Ikechukwu seems to have done right by him and so did Darey… I am not too sure about Jazzman yet though. Think about it! Darey came out with his latest album UN-DAREY-TED and with a more matured sound. Everything about Darey was refreshingly different as opposed to the struggling small boy of yesteryears and now Ikechukwu who can also boasts of some successful singles like ‘Wind am well’ and the ‘Shobidubido… whatever’ song courtesy of the same Mo Hits. Really, was there any competition?
Ikechukwu said in a recent interview with a local newspaper, ‘I think Storm does not really focus on Artiste per say, they do stuffs for the Artistes but it’s not like a prioritized thing’. Is that true Obi? Now I was intrigued when I learnt that… and this is according to Ikechukwu, that Obi has been holding out on him and not just him but other artistes as well. He stated that Obi Asika is a BIG BOY and in an interview with a journalist on NEXT NEWSPAPER last week, bragged about how he had recouped N200 million from his artistes alone, not to mention Storm 360 and Storm Media. Now Ikechukwu is confused as to how a man can have that kind of money and yet always give one excuse after the other for not releasing the album of his artiste… artiste being Ikechukwu.
Ikechukwu cited the many reasons Obi Asika gave, one of which being that his music was not yet accepted by the masses and so his album could not drop. It was about this time that he went to Don for help and emerged with ‘Wind am well’ but still that was not good enough for the great Obi Asika. Ikechukwu also cited the instance of how he had to earn some money to shoot one of his video after months and weeks of asking Obi to do so. Obi offered to take care of the outstanding debt that emerged from Ikechukwu’s little stunt but after the video was done, Obi decided to take all the praise for a job well done.
Now with rumors of Naeto C about to be the next to walk… rumors, by the way that are yet to be substantiated… especially when Naeto C and Obi Asika are said to be sorta related by blood (Hmm… wouldn’t want to be there when the $hit finally hits the fan), things are said to be getting hotter than ever in the Storms record camp. Apparently, there is also a rumor that the first ever Femcee to show up on radar in the music industry- Sasha might just be staying true to the end. Reasons that were given for this commendable act of loyalty was that she is currently in a romantic whirlwind with the storm records boss Obi Asika… the girl had to get her groove on somehow right? Come on Sasha… fess up! Don’t be bashful. It’s okay… I’ll hold your hand through this. Another reason given was that Sasha is gradually being seen as old cargo that no one seems to want. With new and seemingly better MCs and Femcees popping up left right and center, the once first lady of the then Trybesmen is feared to be at her 11th hour in the rapping game. All this is speculation of course. We are waiting for its proof.
Okay back to Ikechukwu… away from his career, I am sure I am not alone when I ask… ‘What in God’s name is Ikechukwu doing or not doing that is making him look like he’s contracted some kind of disease?’ people have tied it to his love for the lah lah lah and I don’t mean music. Come on IK, trust me when I say THIN IS OUT AND CHUNKY (not fat) BROTHERS ARE BACK IN STYLE!!! Perhaps Obi was weighting… Oops! I spelt that wrong… was waiting for you to put on a few extra pounds before unleashing you to the world. He wouldn’t want people talking and saying that the great Obi Asika does not take care of his artistes.
Now I know how frustrating it ust feel to be the last to turn up on the radar when the rest of the pack are doing their thins. Darey has an album out, Naeto C has an album out, Sasha has an album out… I think and Jazzman is still recording crappy songs so he can have an excuse to shoot videos full of women who are strong supporters of ARSE-nal and BRA-celona. Hey, as long as he is happy, we are all happy right? So Ikechukwu, good on you mate. I hope you find the happiness and peace of mind that you seek in the arms of your buddies and Obi… take heart… Sasha will rise again… hopefully.
