Dual Mono
How do you make a program with mono audio use both speakers?
Hi,
I have a game application that only output mono sound into left speaker. How do I make it use the right speaker as well so that it's dual-mono?
Get at Radio shack a single-RCA to dual-RCA cable. You can use it to go from mono to stereo and from stereo to mono.

There is a ghetto way to do this, if the mix has the vocals panned dead center, and everything else panned left or right. If you convert the stereo track to dual mono, then overlay the channels, it will reinforce the frequencies of the vocals, doubling the amplitude. Add a gate to filter out everything below the vocal levels, and you have isolated vocals. By inverting one of the waveforms, it will cancel out the vocals, leaving you with an instrumental. The resulting quality isn’t so hot, but you can clean it up a bit by processing or using something like soundsoap.
