Flood Light Bulb
can you put a higher watt bulb in a flood light that has a ballast for 250 watt hps bulb?
I want to put a 400 watt bulb in it, i wont try until i know.
it will burn up your ballast prematurely....
you can try a universal bulb in mercury vapor or metal halide in the same wattage that is made to be put in either ballast... it must specify that it is ok to be used with an HPS ballast.. or don't use it.
mercury and metal halide bulbs give out a white/blueish light
HPS gives a more yellow color....
an HPS bulb lasts about twice as long as the other types.
stay with the 250W HPS
