How to keep my PS3 controller charged longer?
I have a PS3 and just got it so I'm kinda new to it. I just got a new game that I love so of course I spend a lot of time playing it and everytime I start getting into it the controller starts going dead and I have to plug it back up to the PS3 with a short little 6 foot USB cord and I can't play anymore. Do I need the PS3 on or off to charge the controller faster.
A fully charged PS3 controller should run for about 30 hours. To charge it, just plug it into any USB (HDTV, computer, PS3, etc). The device will have to be on to transmit a charge to the controller. The best solution to your problem is to just buy another controller. Keep one charging while you play, and then switch. Eventually you will want another controller anyway, and it really makes it more convenient to charge while playing as opposed to running your PS3 when you are not just to charge the controller.
Another option is to buy a longer USB cable, like 10 or 15 feet. But don't bother with chargers, they are a waste of money. Sure, they work, but you are better off just putting the money toward another controller.
I don't believe you can "over-charge" a controller and kill the battery as suggested by one of the answers above. I keep one plugged in to my HDTV at all time, and sometimes forget it is there for days. It sits at full charge, still connected, and I have never had any ill effects from this.
PS - While the controller is charging, you will notice that all four lights on the controller blink. When it is fully charged, these lights will stop blinking. Just a little fyi in case you weren't sure how to tell!

Why does my xbox 360 controller keep disconnecting even though I have GOOD batteries.?
I checked they're good. I play with the controller about four feet away and in front of the console.
I had the same problem but I noticed that as long as the controller was always pointing to the system, it would mostly never disconnect. Also don't don't put the controller down or it disconnects. If it does disconnect all you have to do is take the battery pack out and back in and it should work fine again.
