Led Light Music My HP Pavillion a1140n will not power up. The led light does not come on, but the disk drive lights up.?
The monitor is not detecting anything either. I switched power supplies, but it did not change the situation. What should I do next? If it is fried, what is the best/easiest way to get my music and pictures off of the hard drive?
Try resetting CMOS. With PC unplugged, reset using the CMOS jumper pin switch on motherboard OR simply by removing CMOS battery on motherboard for at least 30 sec. Then power ON PC. Press Del or F1 to open BIOS menu. Load fail-safe defaults, save and exit. PC should start normally.
A normal PC BEEPS once at the start of boot process. Multiple beeps mean processor, power supply and motherboard are working but self test has detected a device error (RAM, graphics card, etc.).
Easiest way to retrieve data from hard drive is to put it in an external hard drive case that connects to USB. Then connect it to a laptop or PC with DVD burner. Burn your files to a DVD disc.
