Life Set Eight
Life Set Eight
Do pro-lifers ever feel a little used?

For years, six of the eight to be exact, of Bush's administration, we had a conservative majority, and conservatives basically ran things.
In Clinton's time conservatives had congress.
And pro life laws have never been set down, really.

Don't you ever wonder if the right uses the issue just to keep numbers up? If abortion was flat out illegal, would pro lifers still flock to the conservative party?

I've said the same thing for years, they will never outlaw it because then they will lose a lot of their voting base.

Octomom: "I screwed up my life" - Incredible Unseen Footage!

English teachers anybody help me improve my eight-sentence paragraph for my topic?

I have to write an eight-sentence paragraph that fully develops the topic. My topic is A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA IS IMPORTANT TO MY FUTURE.

As a student currently enrolled in Penn Foster High School, I can see how a diploma will be vital to my success in the future. With my diploma in hand I will be able to pursue the career of my dreams. Soon I will become a talented chef and open a restaurant in my hometown. This would eventually lead me to a career that would allow me to earn a salary much larger than most high school dropouts. I am going to set a good example for other members of my family. Life will be so much better. As a successful restaurant owner, I will be able to provide for my own family someday. They will always remember mama's home-cooked meals. Receiving my Penn Foster diploma will be the first step in my plan to become a successful restaurateur.

I think for the most part you have a good paragraph here. The only two sentences I really have a problem with are "I am going to set a good example for other members of my family," and "Life will be so much better." The first sentence just doesn't seem to flow with the rest of the paragraph--I can understand how it fits, but it doesn't fit into the idea of your success in the future. The second one just seems like a filler sentence to meet the eight sentence requirement.
You're focusing on having a career as a restauranteur (great ambition, by the way); could you include a couple sentences about the training you'll need for that goal. Will you have to go to a chef's academy or some similar school? You would probably have to have a diploma to enroll in such a school.
Good luck! :)
