Light Source Micro

Please settle this bet about recharable batteries!?
Okay my friend and I have been going beack and fourth on this all day.
If a portable electronic device (such as an iPod or a TomTom) contains a Li-Ion rechargable battery and after years of use it no longer holds a charge...you can still power the device with an AC adapter from a wall outlet or a cigarette lighter in a vehicle despite the devices depleated battery because it is being powered by an external source.
This is my argument...is it accurate?
To prove my point I actually REMOVED the battery out of a Creative Zen Micro MP3 Player and plugged it into a wall. It worked perfectly! He still is not convinced.
HELP END THIS ARGUMENT ASAP!
THANK YOU
in theorical part you are absolutely right but when you want to turn it to practical there are somethings you have to care about. the devices you mentioned are very sensitive to power source, meanwhile if theres spikes in the power they mail fail completely but when you use them with external power source while batteries are inside, batteries act as a power regulator. so if your deivce supports charging during playback keep the batteries inside and connect it to the charger permanently. or remove the batteries and use a high regulated power supply according to your device needs, in car or in home.

The core technologies behind the popularity of micro and pico projectors
Pico and micro projectors have become extremely popular in the recent months. This popularity increase has been largely attributed to advances in optical engine technology that allows pico and micro projectors to be produced inexpensively and reliably.
Two technological advances have allowed the cost effective production of the micro projector and the cost effective optical engine. The first is LED technology. Once relegated to low output applications such as indicator lights, light-emitting-diodes are rapidly being integrated into general lighting products such as warehouse lighting, street lighting, flashlight use, and of course optical engines for projectors. While still not as energy efficient as the traditional UHP or HID type bulb LEDs are rapidly catching up in terms of yield per watt. Furthermore, LEDs due to their longevity and quick on-times are rapidly becoming the light source of choice for many of these applications including optical engines. These innate characteristics coupled with their compact nature of LEDs makes them a great choice for optical engines for micro projectors.
In pico and micro projector applications, LEDs are employed as the primary light-source. They can either be employed in a single white LED format, where a color filter then produces the primary RGB colors necessary to produce an image, or they can be employed in an RGB format, where quick on-times allow red, green, and blue LEDs to light-off sequentially, projecting a full color picture.
- Coupled with advances in nano-technology, LCOS imagers can now be manufactured cheaply and reliably.
Coupled with LEDs these two technologies allow the creation of small, bright, and high resolution optical engines at low costs. And it is these small optical engines that are the heart of the pico projector movement.

While you may be right, this is not how AO has been described in the papers and documentation I have read – AO is specifically used to refer to the raster approximation or pre- or post- render effect. > ray-tracing is a method of rendering which mimics light rays in real life by tracing them from the viewing point rather than from a light source. rendering engines are any set of programs which can render graphics. the “opposite” of raytracing is rasterization, which is the norm for most 3D graphical engines. Ok, now you’re just being insulting. I was referring to the way in which he used the term – if you are including raytracing to include AO then you should be using the term – as in the industry – which is ‘rendering engine’ which applies to a whole host of various different techniques. However, raytracing does not encompass AO. It simply does not. AO is an additional optional technique that bears no relation to raytracing (the technique) because it does not involve tracing light rays or virtual observation rays. If you look at a breakdown of common raytracing renderers, you will see that AO is a pre-raytrace or post-raytrace effect based on geometry calculation, not rays. I should point out at this point that I have worked on (programming-wise) a few raytracers and other rendering engines. If you wish to argue the semantics of AO, I am more than happy – but I would ask that you refrain from trying to school me in concepts I have been working with for years. I found your tone to be condescending, when you simply did not see that I was referring to a specific technique that you, yourself, admitted in your reply was not based on rays – which means it is not a ‘raytraced’ technique.
yep, as long as he can still get out of the sun to cool down. you can even make a little enclosure outside to let him play in. if you have the special uvb bulb he should be getting enough "sun" light. a regular heat lamp doesn't give off that special light
