Around Lighting Clamp
any insight rrod repair?
ok im thinking of buying a rrod 360 off of ebay and trying to fix/x clamp/put better fans in all the way around i know how to solder and i build pcs in spare time for cash so i think i could handle so my questoin is should i try it and is there a certain kind of rrod 360 i should look for that would be easier to fix like an elite or one with only one light or what?
I've been been buying broken consoles and computers off ebay for about 7 years or so. For xbox 360's you should aim for a rrod 0110,0102,103 error. You want to stay away from a lot of the other errors because you probably don't have the proper equipment to fix them.
If you plan on doing the xclamp replacement you should be able to bring a rrod back to life. Though if you have some of the other problems (e73, e74, 1 light, 2 lights, 4 lights, no video) you will need to have the proper equipment (reflow machine, heatgun) to fix them.
You could invest in a heatgun and a infrared temp gun and be able to repair a few more errors.
Use this xclamp replacement no matter what. It will help keep the board flat and will help in cooling when you replace the thermal compound.

XBOX 360 Repair 3 Red Lights of Death Rrod X-Clamp Fix
My Xbox 360 works great but the top two lights come up red?
It doesn't have the whole rrod problem, it boots up fine the 1 light goes around and then stops to show how many players are signed on like it should, nothing seems wrong, never freezes. It HAD the rrod and i replaced the x-clamps with screws washers and bolts and it works fine. Are the two lights that are red bad or just a error with the xbox thinking its got the rrod?
