Lighting In theatre

We have white wainscotting that is too light for home theatre, can you paint wainscott any other colour?
We have pine wainscotting that is painted white, funriture and cabinetry is pine, the white looks bad so we could turn it over to be natural pine or paint it another colour. I have been told wainscott should always be white, or to paint it to match the wall so it "blends in". We want the walls above to be brown..any suggestions?
no, wainscott doesn't need to always be white....get some decorating books or look online & you will see. you can strip off the white paint to natural wood which from your description sounds fine...choose a good shade of brown to go w/ the pine rather than vice versa....

what names is the lights in theatre?
What different lights are in theatre?
There are lots of different lights. The most common are:
Fresnel - a light that uses a stepped lens to cast directional lights, best used for fill
Ellipsoidal reflector spotlight - (ERS) - sometimes called a Leko which is a type of this light. ERS use one or more plano-convex lenses to cast a directional light that can be focused to have crisp and sharp edges. Used for all types of light, very versatile.
There are also scoops, beam projectors, open face, strobes, Footlights, cyc lights and more. For more info, just google.
There are also Arc type lights, like HMI, but these are mainly used in film...

the trip was alright, it still seems a little bit unreasonable though. But it was good to breath city atmosphere
and to see people interact with the city.
the inside lighting of the theatre really caught our attention, but the lighting in the area in general wasn't that inspiring. We thought about integrating light in places where people sit and spend some time. Another idea for the area would be to light up the cables and poles that hold the street lamps.
