55 gallon tank set up?
i have a 55 gallon tank with a dual filter and 2 bubblers........in the tank
i have 4 goldfish 1 dojo loche 1 peacock eel and 1 pelco.........
my tank is getting a lil cloudy and i think its because of the alge waffers i give the pelco....
im thinking of getting another dual filter to help the amonnia caused by the goldfish but i dont know if thats a good idea?
the goldfish do not have a real stomach, and excrete far more protein than other fish, so more and larger water changes are absolutly necessary...additionally the excessive food build up is also clouding your water....and if by some small chance the filter media is not maintained then bacteria are possibly blooming to counter spikes in ammonia....which you are undoubtedly experiencing in the stock of fish you have listed
....additional filteation will be very beneficial...with goldfish water should be cycled 3 to 4 times every hour...so in a 55 gallon tank try to cycle 220 + gallons per hour
....continue 25% weekly water changes ever 5 to 7 days for goldfish
....if you have some chance to add an undergravel filter that will also improve the overall water quality, and enable you to vaccum without disrupting the bacteria colonies in the substrate
...finally,
....the bubblers do add oxygen to water and also increase the loss of CO2....which if you kep live plants is also causing plants to slough off material that is creating cloudy decayed water quality since CO2 is more important to plants than O2 in an aquarium
