Megaphone Siren
What is the law for megaphones/sirens/pa/loudspeakers in cars?
I would like to install a megaphone in my car, here's an ebay listing of what im talking about:

If the ambulance and police siren functions were removed, is this legal?? Cos i want it so i could use the megaphone type function. Obv rules i assume would apply like not after 11pm and not for abuse but is there any laws about it??

PA systems on private vehicles comes under several laws, the two main ones being The Control of Pollutions Act 1974 and The Road Traffic Act 1988 (Construction and Use).
Generally, with a few exceptions, they're illegal if they have a microphone for Speech. The exceptions are Utilities vehicles (your water's going off etc) travelling showmen (come to our circus) and canvassers during designated election periods.
Where they're fitted to vehicles, Ice cream vans are the most common example, they cannot broadcast Speech, are only allowed to be used between 12.00 noon and 19.00 hours (different from horns), cannot be used for longer than four seconds at a time and more often than once every three minutes. They cannot be used within 50mtrs of a school, place of worship or hospital. There are more regulations, but they relate only to traders.
Emergency service vehicles are of course exempt.

Siren In The Hallway
Is it legal to use my siren on my bull horn?
i recently ordered a bull horn off the internet(and electronic megaphone) and it has a built in siren.. is it legal to use out in my yard.. just messin around with the siren and talking to people driving by?
That all depends on your local ordinances. Where I live at, using the bull horn AT ALL would be considered noise polution. However, even though it is a law, unless you live in the downtown area, most cops aren't going to say anything. Check your local laws.
