Source mini Coupler
Connecting two audio sources to TV w/ RCA plugs mutes one source?
I want to connect my cable box audio and PC audio to my TV via RCA plugs, but my TV only has one set of RCA inputs. The cable box has RCA audio out, but the PC has a "line-out" mini-plug. (I have a mini-to-RCA cable for the PC)
The audio works fine when just the cable box is connected. The audio works fine when just the PC is connected. However, when I use a "Y-coupler" to connect both sources to the TV, there is no sound.
Any idea what is happening here? This is is just old-fashioned RCA analog audio. Does the mini-plug in the back of the PC have something to do with this?
Thanks.

tilebutcher- I don't want to use coax since it can't do HD. The video is already connected from the cable box to the TV via a DVI cable. DVI cannot do audio.
If my cable box supported HDMI then I would not have this problem. My TV has an HDMI input.
dep[ending on how the wires are configured etc internally - you are basically shorting out the signals.
Check Radio Shack, cirvuit city, walmart, bestbuy for a switch box.
most are push button and can take 2-4 devices to one output.
inexpensive and easy to do
