Perfect Combined Effect
Pc audio gaming problems?
When i play games on the pc the audio is perfect. When i talk to friends on skype or xfire the audio is perfect. When i combine the two ie gaming and chat i get severe distortion in the audio. The cpu is an AMD 64 4000, 2G of memory and the soundcard is an X-FI Platinum. I have re-installed the soundcard drivers and the chat software also some of the games but i still get the degraded sound. It does not matter if i use headphones or speakers the effect is the same. There seems to be some cross over which causes the problems when the two apps are running together. Can someone please help me its driving me nuts. Cheers
I understand what you are saying but i have used this kind of setup for a long time without any problems and so have my friends. This is only a recent problem. Please continue to resolve this issue. Thanks.
I think the problem is that Skype isnt meant to be used whilst using something else that is using your soundcard to the max.
Most games require all of your sound cards processing power when in use so Skype is always going to struggle.
There are comms packages that gamers use to talk to each other that work fine when run together.. Ventrillo and teamspeak are two of them. Thats because these are designed to use the minimal sound power possible.
Try adjusting your ingame sound settings to a lower setting and also turn off surround sound game settings as this will definatley effect Skype.
