Taking your Kids on a Road Trip
Taking your kids on a long car ride may be inevitable in many situations and it will likely produce some whining and crying. You can, however, take a few precautionary measures to avoid some major problems and help your kids pass the time in the car without too much trouble. Planning ahead and bringing along enough critical supplies is the best way to start planning on taking your kids on a road trip.
Pack the Right Stuff
You'll want to make sure that you've packed the right stuff for your trip, first and foremost. Give each child a special backpack or bag that contains items that they can use for the trip and some food for the voyage. Crayons, books, activity sets, sticker books, handheld games, and other goodies can be in each child's bag. This allows your children to pull out activities as they want and entertain themselves. These goodie bags are especially ideal if you are the lone driver during the road trip.
Pace the Journey
Make sure that you allow enough time for rest stops along the way. Kids will need to use the restroom and will need to stretch their legs and get some fresh air. You probably will need a bit of a break from driving, too, so set a pattern that you can follow throughout the trip in terms of rest stops. Take a break every two hours or so and stick to a good break schedule. This will help your kids anticipate the times of the stops.
Allow Time for Play
Along with the rest stops, try to stop in at a fun restaurant along the way that has playrooms or a playground facility. Many fast food restaurants can provide kids with entertaining playroom facilities that will help your kids get a break from the monotony of the road. You'll like it too, as you'll be able to relax with a cup of coffee and watch your kids play before you carry on with the car trip.
Snack It Up
Snacks are important, so make sure that you bring plenty of snack options that are healthy and exciting for your kids. Pack some crackers and some cheese or some fruit snacks and let your kids tear into them at their leisure. Including the snacks in the goodie bags is a good idea, but keep some more up front with you in case your kids get overly eager and finish their snacks before you've left your driveway. You can also choose to distribute snacks yourself, but this can get tricky if you are the one driving.
Don't Rush
The most critical thing about taking a road trip with kids is to not rush the trip. You don't want to set unreasonable goals and try to make it to your destination as quickly as possible, as this can lead to cranky children and unsafe driving habits. Instead, give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination and allow for all sorts of stops along the way. Too often, we forget to enjoy the journey of a good road trip and, instead, charge ahead to our destination. Take your time, relax and enjoy the time with your children.

If you said you did not want to dog kept over night, they should not be able to keep it or charge you for it.
Vets should not be able to "force" treatment on an apparently owned dog unless it has life threatening injuries.
Some people master the violin, and will never even chance to dream of being hired as a first first violinist in a reputable orchestra, and this may or may not do strange things to them. Coincidentally, violins are relatively inexpensive, especially for beginners. Others may choose a more obscure, specialized instrument that is still in some demand, musically. For example, the harp. A halfway decent harpist can almost certainly find work, here and there. There are plenty of five-year-olds who are halfway decent at violin. This is partially because there is no such thing as a “starter” Harp. You’re going to have to find someone to build it for you, and it’s going to cost you, at least, $10K. And you’re going to need a road-case for it, and that’ll run, at least, several thousand dollars. And then you’re going to need to figure out how the fuck to get it in your car… etc. Before I get into it, I’d like to point out that the Synclavier II model in question cost well over $100K in the 1980s, and took up massive amounts of digital hard disk storage space (it recorded at 100Khz, at the time when you’d have to sell your house to store 50megs). So, back to elaborating on the masturbation chamber…I have to pose the question: what happens to a man who becomes an expert at the manipulation of an instrument like the Synclavier II? Well, in my experience, and to the best of my knowledge, he builds a shrine / ossuary to it in whatever tiny temple over which he has dominion. As a professor, this would be a temple of knowledge, so he was required to guide us in the learning process. And yet, he found it necessary to spend two days introducing the Synclavier to us (IMHO, not even enough time to know enough to even be dangerous), and assign us some homework on it (something simple like “figure out how to store a sound on a blank floppy”). But, while me and a friend were working on our projects after hours and bashing our heads in trying to turn the fucking thing on and produce a sound, we started to wonder during a smoke-break…”why is there a one-way mirror (as it seemed to appear) directly above the Synclavier?” “is there a room behind it? hmmm…i think the next room over is the bathroom, and so it would have to be very small to fit even one person in there, if there is a room at all.” At that moment, our professor, who didn’t have any conceivable reason to be there at 1:00AM on a Friday (as a married man with a mistress), and certainly had every reason to acknowledge his students who were obviously in the music building to work on his assignment, walked out the building, right past us, tucking his shirt in, out of breath, and not saying a single word. When we returned, we had been locked out of the entire studio, and the key was gone (i.e. he assumed we had left for the night and forgot to lock up). We weren’t the only people in the class to notice this sort of thing. I’m drunk, but if you want to know more, feel free.
