Rotating Spinning Disco
Clothes dryer making a horrible noise?
(asking on behalf of my beloved Disco Stu)
our dryer is making an awful squeeling sound while it's running. It's related to the rotation and not the heating (rotating it by hand with the door open makes the same noise).
The dryer still operates normally - spinning and drying clothes - just making a God-awful noise while it does. My hubby pullled the whole thing apart and the drive belt looks fine, although I suppose it's possible it's slipping - but if it was, I would think it wouldn't make that noise when turning it by hand.
It sometimes sounds like a grinding noise and then goes back to squealing.
Any ideas?
There's usually a couple of wheels that support the drum at the back of the unit. It sounds like one of them is probably broken or severely worn...
