I need help setting up recording equipment. Does anyone have a diagram?

I recently purchased recording equipment and the friend who was supposed to help me set it all up and teach me how to use it has bugged out on me. (Too busy I guess). The manuals are written for those who already know this stuff. This is a list of what I have to install.

* M-Audio Delta 44 4-in/4-out Professional Audio Card for PC - (I’ve already installed this along with Sonar 6 Studio Edition software - I'll dig into that later! - oh boy!)
* M-Audio Delta Series Break Out Box
* PreSonus TubePre Microphone Pre-Amp
* Pair of KRK RP5 Rokit Powered 2-Way Active Monitors

I guess for now I just need to know how to hookup the Break Out Box, Mic Pre-Amp and Monitors (only 2) correctly. What hooks into what! Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

The break out box plugs into the audio card, then from there you can either plug the monitors into outs on the box, or use the main speaker output on the computer, depending on how you configure your outputs on the Delta controller. I'd use the outs on the Delta, though. The pre-amp just goes in line between the mic and the box when you use a mic. You don't need it if you're using line level things, like say a keyboard or drum machine. You can use it to warm up the tone a little, but you don't have to. See if you can google a customer service/tech support number for M-Audio. Most music gear companies have decent support to make sure you get the gear running properly.

    a ten year old recording of her sounding awesome?

    I'm shocked.

    Ok. I'm just flat out calling bullshit.

    She is an amazing talent. Beautiful voice. Totally professional.

    That kind of singing takes training, and it's obvious she's had it. Her hand movements are the movements of a professional. Microphone placement, watch what she does with it, when she hits the “plosives” (p's, t's), cocks it just a bit to keep the airflow from overdriving the mic. She drops her mouth wide and low on the open vowels, which intensifies the power of her voice, and is the proper way to sing. Her breathing is controlled, she's feeding those pipes like a person who knows how.

    That is the product of solid training. Ain't no way this gal just showed up singing her heart out. No fuckin way.

    She is good. Very good. Obviously the ability and the gift was there to refine. But it has been refined. (quite well)
