Queen quilt cover on a double bed?

I just bought the most beautiful quilt cover bed pack during the Christmas sales. The problem is, I only have a double bed (with a double bed quilt) but bought the queen bed size quilt cover pack because they didn't have it in double bed and I just had to have it!

So now I am stuck with a queen size quilt cover for a double bed quilt (the fitted and flat sheet and valance are not a problem since I bought them separately in double bed)...will this be a problem? Unfortunately, buying a new quilt is not an option because I completely blew my budget buying new pillows and high quality sheets:( so is there any way to make it not look so bad?

I am afraid that the extra bit of quilt cover not filled with quilt will look baggy and really obvious. One side of my bed is against a wall so some have told me to put the baggy side towards the wall and pin the quilt on the other side to the cover so it won't move around.

Any suggestions would be really helpful!

I have a queen-sized bed and I bought a king-sized quilt. I don't think a queen would have been wide enough with my thicker mattress.

What do I cover the pack-n-play mattress with?

I'm planning to use it as a bassinett for the first month, but I can't seem to find anything to cover it with. The sheet I have that fits it well makes it fold up, since the mattress folds in thirds. I'm thinking of just putting a large changing pad over it, but is this safe if it is just laying on the mattress not tucked in? I don't want to just lay them on the pack-n-play mattress with no cover for it.
The reason I can't use sheets is because it makes the mattress the playpen comes with fold up when I have it in the bassinett position. I'm thinking the answer is to either make a mattress out of foam as one person mentioned, or to buy one. I measured the pack-n-play and it is 36" by 24", so hopefully I can buy another mattress, then use the pack-n-play sheets I already have. :D

Blankets on top might work too, I just worry the wee ones might somehow manage to pull it up and suffocate themselves with it if it isn't properly secured.

The problem is probably the mattress. Unfold it and lay it out for several days/weeks. The 'creases' where it folds should straighten out. You could also buy some foam (like used for chair cushions but get the really firm kind) and cut it the exact size as the folded up one. Use the existing sheet on it. You can use the firmer mattress while at home, and the folded up one for traveling.
