Reasons to Buy the Sony Bravia KDL-55XBR8
The Sony Bravia KDL-55XBR8 is one of the latest LCD HD television models released by Sony and for some, this is enough reason to buy one. If you're not sure about getting one, though, here are some other reasons why you might want to have the KDL-55XBR8 in your living room.
1. LED Backlight - One thing that sets the KDL-55XBR8 apart from most LCD HD televisions is that it comes with a TRILUMINOS RGB Dynamic LED backlight as opposed to the usual fluorescent backlight, which gives you more accurate colors, specifically darker blacks and brighter whites. To understand this better, you have to understand the difference of fluorescent lights and LEDs. Think of the fluorescent light as one big light. In order to light up a part of the screen, other parts of it have to be dimmed, but are not entirely blocked. On the other hand, LEDs are clusters of tiny light bulbs, some of which can be turned off or on in order to represent different colors. LEDs have a longer life than fluorescent lights, too.
2. Energy Saving Options - Because it is an LED-backlit LCD television, the KDL-55XBR8 consumes less energy. It even has a two-step option that allows you to limit the peak brightness of the screen to save more power. It is also one of the first Sony HDTVs with a Home/Store option, making it worthy of an Energy Star 3.0.
3. Sleek Design - The design of the Sony Bravia KDL-55XBR8 is quite impressive, too. In fact, although it is measured at 55 inches diagonally, it appears wider because of its low-profile stand and its side-mounted speakers. These black, vertical speakers add three inches to each side and appear suspended in space because of the transparent panel. You can change their color, too, by purchasing a gold, silver, red or brown alternate-color grille, or keep them as they are so they blend in perfectly with the neat, glossy black frame of the TV.
4. Great Connectivity Options - The KDL-55XBR8 has many ports, including four HDMI ports - three on the back and an extra one on the side. These ports allow you to connect your Blu-Ray player so you can watch High Definition movies, as well as your game console and cable or satellite TV box. It also has a PC input so you can connect your computer and use the HDTV as your monitor. It even has a USB port where you can attach your flash drive and see your photos come to life on the HDTV screen.
5. Amazing Picture Quality - HDTVs are known for their superior picture quality more than anything else and the Sony Bravia KDL-55XBR8 certainly delivers breathtaking images. This is because it is equipped with the latest systems and technologies, including the Bravia Engine 2 Pro, a video processing system designed to render sharp, crystal clear images, and the Motionflow 120Hz PRO technology which creates smoother and more fluid motions.
The KDL-55XBR8 also comes with the Live Color Creation technology which gives more refined colors, and a 10-bit processor combined with a 10-bit panel to create and display billions of colors and facilitate smoother color transitions. As a result, you get realistic colors and ironically, an amazing viewing experience that is almost surreal.
These are just some great reasons to go for the Sony Bravia KDL-55XBR8. It may not be perfect. In fact, it has a relatively large and complicated remote control, an equally complicated user interface resembling that of the PS3, and a very steep price - ranging from $4,000 to $6,000. Still, it remains one of the best and certainly one worth considering if you want to get amazing pictures and have enough room in your budget for one.

Without knowing what 'look' you're going for, I would say the photo is way too contrasty and saturated – 'blocked up' shadows and loss of highlight detail is very apparent.
That said, there is only one 'pro' method of adjusting tonal balance and color balance in PS – Curves. Not Levels, not Brightness, not Contrast.
When adjusting contrast/tonal balance, convert your image to LAB color space and work in the Lightness channel (which is also the best place to apply sharpening).
Convert back to RGB for color balance work.
Needless to say, accurate monitor calibration is a MUST.
