Speaker Stand Bag

Bright Eyes fans!! What is the meaning of this song?
"Gold Mine Gutted"- Bright Eyes
it was don delillo, whiskey neat,
and a blinking midnight clock
speakers on a tv stand, just a turntable to watch
when the smoke came out our mouths
on all those hooded sweatshirt walks
you were a stroke of luck
we were a goldmine and they gutted us
and from the sidelines
you see me run
until i’m out of breath
living the good life
i left for dead
the sorrowful midwest
well i did my best
to keep my head
it was grass stained jeans and incompletes
and a girl from class to touch
but you think about yourself too much
and you ruin who you love
well all these claims at consciousness
my stray dog freedom
let’s have a nice clean cut
like a bag we buy and divvy up
and from the sidelines
i see you run
until you're out of breath.
and all those white lines that sped us up
we hurry to our death
well i lagged behind
so you got ahead
"A bag we buy and divy up" and "White lines that sped us up" abvoiusly refer to coke. Other than that, I'm not really sure.
But go here and you can see what lots of other people thought this song means!

How To Grow Your Business Without Growing Your Personal Workload
How To Grow Your Business Without Growing Your Personal Workload
By Tulsa Business Coach & Motivational Speaker Clay Clark –
About the Author – Clay Clark has received the U.S. SBA Entrepreneur of the Year, the U.S. Chamber National Blue Ribbon Quality Award, the Metro Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur of the Year Award and various other entrepreneurship awards
Scottsdale , Arizona – Today I am in Scottsdale, Arizona preparing to work with a group of credit managers. However, no matter where I am in the country, working as a business coach has allowed me to personally witness many business success stories first-hand, but it has also forced me confront the reality that many of today's small business owners are currently dealing with one of the two following issues:
- They can't grow their business because they do not know how to build scalable & duplicatable systems for everything, thus they give their best attempt at "doing all of the important stuff themselves."
- They can't grow their business because they have delegated everything to people who have absolutely zero accountability because their is not a system in place that forces "relentless follow-up to occur."
Statistics from the U.S. Small Business Administration continue to show that 9 out of 10 small businesses throughout our country will fail in the first year. Then statistics show us that 9 out of the 10 that make it through that first year successfully will ultimately fail over the next 5 years. Despite the fact that this information is statistically true, it does not have to be the case. Thus, to help bridge gap between what the academics teach and what the laws of capitalism demand I have come up with the following 5 Step System To Transform Your Existing Business From Marginal To Magnificent and From Unscalable To Infinitely Duplicatable.
1) Step 1: (Answer this question) How does your business systematically WOW and OVER-DELIVER TO EVERY CUSTOMER? Describe what your business does to break out of the clutter of commerce to become UNFORGETTABLE IN THE EYES OF THE CUSTOMER. "Thinking is the hardest thing to do, which is why so few people engage in it." – Henry Ford
Example: Chik-fil-a brings out balloons for all the kids. They bring out stuff-animals / cows to all the kids. They have extremely competent people working for them. They are closed on Sundays because they stand up for their core beliefs. They have huge play areas for all of the kids. They are a family fun environment. They don't just serve chicken. Many businesses serve chicken. They wow kids! They wow kids to wow their moms who then wow their husbands with the amount of money they spend at Chik-Fil-A. So with this in mind, HOW DOES YOUR BUSINESS SYSTEMATICALLY WOW AND OVER-DELIVER TO EVERY CUSTOMER?
2) Step 2: (Answer this question) Draw a linear / time-linesc looking document known as a work-flow that clearly shows how your business does the following things.
- How does your company market to potential new customers?
- How does your company initially interact with new customers?
- How does your company convert new customers into sales?
- How does your company deliver the product and services you promised your customers?
- How does your company market to previous customers?
Example: Southwest Airlines
- How does your company market to potential new customers? Have your ever scene one of their commercials? If you have, the chances are that you are now probably aware of what makes them VERY DIFFERENT from their competitors. Southwest breaks out of the clutter of capitalism by offering the LOWEST FARES, MORE ON-TIME FLIGHTS, FREE BAG CHECK, and HUMOR.
- How does your company initially interact with new customers? Whenever you interact with a Southwest employee, you will be interacting with a fun, upbeat, energetic employee who is focused on getting things done and focused on keeping costs down. They are fun and energetic, because Southwest is very selective about who they hire, and they will only hire fun, upbeat and energetic people and they are focused on keeping costs down because their company uses a company-wide profit-share program.
- How does your company convert new customers into sales? If you have been to www.southwest.com you have probably witnessed a website that is nearly entirely based on a calls to action. CLICK HERE to book your flight. CLICK HERE to be to "Click N' Save." CLICK HERE to enroll in the SOUTHWEST DISCOUNTED FLIGHT ALERT SYSTEM SO THAT YOU CAN HAVE DISCOUNTED FLIGHTS AUTOMATICALLY SENT TO YOUR EMAIL.
- How does your company deliver the product and services you promised your customers? Southwest surveys customers relentlessly to learn how they can provide customers with a better service each time, and they are work diligently with a check-list heavy system that insures that they can continue to offer their customers the LOWEST FARES, MORE ON-TIME FLIGHTS, FREE BAG CHECK, and HUMOR.
- How does your company market to previous customers? They have your e-mail address, because 90% of their customers book online. Thus, they consistently send you updates about discounted flights and about their LOW-FARE SPECIALS. And because you and I enjoyed their service, we keep 0n voting for them in the election of commerce with our dollars.
3) Step 3: Create a 1-page or less, checklist for every aspect of your business and for every position that your company must fill with employees.
Examples of questions that your checklists need to answer:
- What time do you expect your employees to get to work?
- What are your employees expected to wear?
- What are they supposed to say when they answer the phone? (Common sense is not common, think like a big company here. Script it out).
- What information should your employees be collecting from all of your customers?
- What tasks should your employees complete each day before they end their shift?
Note: Be thorough here. You must work as hard while working on your business and you do while working in your business. You must produce these duplicatable systems or your company will never grow with you personally growing your hours and it will be your fault. If you do not build these systems now eventually you will find yourself working EVERY HOUR OF EVERY DAY to increase profits, because you will always fall back on that small-minded small business owner quote, "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself."
4) Step 4: Invest 20 hours or less (total, if you have less than 10 employees) to proactively teaching your employees how your new system works and why it works.
Note: Most small business owners I work with make comments like, "I just feel like this should be common sense." Or they'll say great commentary like, "Even a moron should know how to do this." But they point is, no one else will ever know what you know unless you teach them. You are the founder of your organization or your are at least the catalyst of your organization. If these SUPER EMPLOYEES KNEW EXACTLY WHAT YOU EXPECTED THEM TO DO and EXACTLY HOW TO CONJURE UP NEW CUSTOMERS WHILE WOWING EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM THEY WOULD HAVE STARTED THEIR OWN BUSINESS ALREADY! Don't get bitter, get better. Don't get frustrated, get motivated. Train your employees!
5) Step 5: Daily and relentlessly follow-up with your employees to make sure that they are following their "Job / Position Checklist Perfectly."
Note: Sam Walton was known for his "relentless follow-up." Great coaches are known for their "relentless follow-up." You must be known for your "relentless follow-up." If the people who worked for you did not need a manager, then they would already be managers somewhere else. If the people who work for you begin to show that they do not need managers, then make them a manager before they leave and start their own venture.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T USE THIS SYSTEM?
Note: If you don't use this system statistics from the U.S. Small Business Administration continue to show that 9 out of 10 small businesses throughout our country will fail in the first year. Then statistics show us that 9 out of the 10 that make it through that first year successfully will ultimately fail over the next 5 years. Your business will fail, or you will work 80 hours per week to make it work to compensate for your lack of systems. Either way you will fail. You will either succeed financially while failing as a family member because you work so many hours. Or you will fail as a business person. Either way you will fail. You will fail not because you don't have the talent. You will fail not because you don't have the will to win. You will fail because you do not have scalable and duplicatable systems in place to systematically wow your customers every time. Don't fail…just make the systems.
