Corneal infiltrate due to excessive contact lens wearing, how is it treated and is the damage permanent?
I developed a strange small white spot on the colored part of my eye last night. My eye was burning a little and and the white spot was red. So I went to check my eye and I saw a small white spot on the colored part of my eye. At first I thought it was lint or something in my eye, but the spot didn't move even when I blinked, so I removed my contact lenses and put on some Visine eye drops for the redness. I'm avoiding wearing my contacts for now. I asked what the white spot was a while ago and a few people answered that they thought it was corneal infiltrate. How is corneal infiltrate treated and is the damage, the white spot, permanent?

Well hun first.... you need to see an eye doctor for a diagnosis. Even if that is what you have no one can really guess what it could be without seeing it.
A corneal infiltrate can be caused by either overwearing contacts too long in a day or not throwing them out when recommended. When protein deposits build up on your lenses due to excessive wear or not cleaning them thoroughly it deprives your cornea of oxygen. This can cause a corneal infiltrate among many other problems.
It can also be caused by the preservatives in contact lens care products.
Treatment options include discontinuing wear of contact lens, topical antibiotics and/or topical corticosteroids.
Corneal scrapings for stains and cultures should be considered with larger infiltrates complicated with epithelial defect, anterior chamber inflammation and ocular pain.
Well hun I think the best thing you can do is discontinue contact lens wear and make an appt with your eye doctor.
They will be able to diagnose your problem and give you the appropriate treatment required.

Mirror Tinted Contact Lenses: Now What Is That?
