Storage Rack Music
Music CD's, keep them in the jewel case in a stand or put in a CD book, OR throw them out and go all digital?
Ive got some in a book and some still in the jewel cases in a iron stand that looks like a big building. Im thinking that my CD storage is dated and maybe its time to toss the CD's and just download everything to an Ipod. I dont ever listen to thoes CD's anyway.
So im wondering how everyone keeps their music CD. And I want to know is my tower iron CD rack dated?

Just rip all of your music onto your computer using windows media or itunes. You can probably find a place near you that will buy all of your old cds, or you could put them up on craigslist or ebay. If you ever decide that you want to have a cd again, you can just burn one off of your computer.
And yes, your giant tower of a CD rack is very dated.

How to Build a CD Rack : How to Clear Off Shelves
How can i reuse this built-in cd rack/ cd storage?
i'm getting a wooden desk with a built in cd rack as part of it.
Like in this picture :

But i dont own any CDs/CD cases; mainly because i don't buy my music like that anymore.
So how can i change it to something i can use?
I was thinking of removing the rack, and turn it into mini drawers but i don't know how to build that.
Any ideas?
Other info: I'm not buying a new desk; it's one we already own that im getting. so don't suggest on "getting one that doesn't have a cd rack"
Basically, how do i turn built-in cd storage into little drawers.
I measured it and it's about
length: 20''
width: 5''
so it's really small but tall
Forget making little drawers, make it a shelf. Put a thin flat piece of wood in the middle of it, use one of the cd slots to hold it in place, and use it as a 2-level shelf, or if you have at least one cd case, use that as the "flat piece of wood" you just can't put anything too heavy on it if you use a cd case instead of a more sturdy piece of wood. You can make more than one shelf on it this way, depending on what you need. The cd slots are actually helpful because you can customize your ex-cd-rack-soon-to-be-shelving-unit by deciding how high or low you need to place a shelf depending on the items you need to shelve. Something you can store that's skinny would be a pen/pencil jar, a trophy or other decorative figurine or knick-knack, books, ink cartridges, etc. you'll figure it out.
