Can I use a Canon Speedlite 580EX II and two Canon Speedlite 430EX like strobes w/o pocketwizards?
Im kind of new to the whole off camera flash thing and want to know if i get a Speedlite 580EX II, can I use that as my on camera flash and have it fire the two off camera 430EX?
Yes, the 580EX can act as a master with the two 430EXes as slaves. Keep in mind you'll be restricted in terms of distance and line-of-sight issues by the infrared control system, but otherwise you'll be able to wirelessly control everything right from the 580EX on your camera.
