Sennheiser SET840-S Wireless Assistive Listening System with Body Pack Receiver
On the Art of Listening, Wisdom of the Body and EFT
A quick glance over the course of history reveals that mankind has always been far more impressed by fine orators than by good listeners. In ancient Greece, for example, speaking ability was promoted to the status of a true art, for better or for worse. We need only consider the great philosophers on one side and the demagogues on the other. Nevertheless, teachers, healers, and demagogues in ancient times were very much aware of the tremendous power of listening. They knew that the spoken word is infinitely more valuable than the written word. They knew that a person listens not only with his ears but with his whole body. They also knew that the skin acts as an enormous organ of hearing that absorbs external vibrations and reacts to them powerfully. (Think for example of strident sounds that send a shiver through you).
Most religions have understood the importance of apprenticeship with a spiritual leader. The biography of the Buddha recounts that he sometimes said it was important to listen to the voice of the teacher, even if his words were not understood. The mere act of listening to an enlightened being brings about energetic changes in the body, the mind, and the consciousness. Leaders of all religions, without exception, have encouraged their followers to pray and say mantras aloud—because they know the body needs the vibrations of sound. The body must listen to the sounds, absorb them and stream them to the energetic body of the novice.
Listening as an Active Activity
Speaking is usually considered active, while listening is considered passive. (It is interesting to note that in Hebrew "speaking" is a masculine word, and "listening" is feminine). In fact, true listening is very active listening: in order to engage in full listening it is necessary to activate will power to quiet the thoughts running around endlessly in our consciousness. To truly listen we must, for awhile, renounce our ego. In true listening there is renunciation and devotion to the speaker and to sound in general. Renunciation can only arise out of love. There is no true renunciation without love, especially in the case of listening. If we renounce our ego against our will, we may pretend and appear to listen, but we won't be listening with true attention. Only the warm energy of love has the ability to activate will power, to thaw "dormant programs" that have been "burned" into our energetic body, and through them to bring about a transformation.
EFT—The Emotional Freedom Technique
In recent years a marvelous and wonderfully simple healing technique has been developed, based on this ancient knowledge: the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). At the foundation of the technique is the recognition that every physical, emotional, or mental problem originates in a disturbance or blockage in the energetic body, and that in order to solve the problem, the blockage must be opened. In this technique the patient and/or the therapist say certain words and sentences while tapping meridian points on the patient's body. Using EFT it is possible to overcome a range of physical and emotional suffering - such as headaches, addictions, phobias, anxieties, anger, traumas, sense of loss, and compulsive behavior. EFT also serves as a great tool to achieve both, spiritual and financial goals. To learn more about EFT, you can visit the website: http://www.eftuniverse.com/
The role of the practitioner of this technique (like other holistic healing methods) is to become a "conduit," to allow the energy of love to penetrate the listening body of the patient and awaken his powers of self-healing. The technique itself is simple and very easy to learn, but the real challenge in this method of treatment is finding the "golden sentence," that is, the sentence capable of initiating the healing process. For this to happen we need to be attentive to the patient with all our heart. We must develop our ability to listen and refine it to a level of an art—in other words, we must be familiar with the secrets of the art of listening!
We are still at the tip of the iceberg of the New Age. What we know about healing, particularly about the medicine of frequencies, is far less than what we yet have to learn. However, if we succeed in listening with love to the wisdom encoded in our body, we will enable it to lead us to full healing in every sense of the word.
