If you are in TECHNICAL THEATRE: please help!!!?

I'm taking a stagecrafts class & while doing a safety worksheet I came across a couple of questions that i couldn't find online or in my book. If you could help me out it would be greatly appreciated:

-When a stage curtain is cleaned, what must automatically be done?

-What lights must ALWAYS be on during a performance?

-What is traverse flying?

Thanks!

Other lights that must be left on besides the exit light is the audience aisle lights especially if there are stairs, those light must be set at; at least 30% do people can see were they are walking. I know this because I have stage managed plays were they wanted complete darkness for some scene changes and were told no because by the lighting guys because those lights must be left on.
As for curtain I believe you need to put a sign up to notify people and also if it is on a fly system you need to take off pigs (weights) from the system to equal it out.
As for the last question I think it means flying things like arches or walls. I don't quite remember.
Hope this helps even a little.

can someone help me with this question for english class - a book called "The Outsiders"?

okay...so i have this essay thing, and all i need is an understanding of the question so hopefully you've read this book, i would be veeryy appreciative. okaay.

Ponyboy (in the beginning) is in a dark theatre, he then goes out into the sunlight (or something like that lol..) use this as a metaphor throughout Ponyboy's life, as he goes from the darkness of being in a gang, to the light .....

i have to put this into an essay and it has to be like..throughout the entire book..i've seen the movie...but i dont remember it all and.. i didnt read the entire book and i only have 3 hours to write this thing ..soooooo some help would be great!! thanks. :) !!

Okay, I love the Outsiders :) the book is SO much better than the movie!! In the future, even if you don't have to write another report on it, you should really read it. It's awesome.

Well, I won't write out the entire thing, but in the beginning, he's in the "dark" because he has issues with his oldest brother, Darry. His parents have also died, so he lives with his two brothers (Darry and Soda), but they're always in fear of Soda and Ponyboy being put in a Boys' Home. After he stays out late after going to the movie theater (where he meets Cherry and her friend, can't remember the friend's name), he goes home and Darry hits him, so Pony leaves. Shortly after, he is with his friend, Johnny, when Pony's nearly drowned to death by a Soc. Johnny kills the Soc with a switchblade, forcing them to leave without telling their families.

(This is still in the "dark" part) Johnny and Pony moved into an old church. They change their identities (cut/color hair, etc.) because they were listed as missing in the newspaper, and Johnny was charged for the manslaughter of the Soc. At this point, the church catches on fire while a bunch of kids are in there. Johnny and Pony save the kids' lives, but both are put in a hospital. Okay, so at this point, they're in the hospital, and while Pony is well enough to go home, Johnny's in pretty bad shape. Johnny eventually dies, but before he does, he gives Pony a copy of "Gone With the Wind", which was Johnny's favorite book.

Okay, this is where things turn "lighter". Of course, you can say that him saving the lives of the children in the church was a high-point, if you don't include the fact that he had to go to the hospital. Also, while at the hospital, he sees Darry and Soda, in which Darry apologizes for basically being an assh*le to Pony. They reconcile and all is good. After Pony goes to back school, he starts to flunk, but his English teacher essentially said that if he could write a really good theme. Pony finally reads "Gone With the Wind", where he realizes Johnny has left a note saying, "Stay Golden, Ponyboy." He starts it off with the same way the book is written: "When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home..." So this shows that there was a point of light after the dark times of his life, including the death of his friends.
