Theatre Lights
Technical theatre workshops in Ireland?
I'm studying acting full time in Dublin but I'm also interested in technical theatre; light work, etc. Are there any workshops or part time classes available in technical theatre? In Dublin or even Ireland in general?
I know there are full time courses in technical theatre but I'm looking for some sort of once a week for ten week type of course or full time in the summer months etc.
Any help would be appreciate.

My suggestion would be to look at any playbills you have for theatres in Dublin, in the back they should list who does the sets/lights/rigging/etc.. Look those companies up. If Ireland is anything like the US, those companies are in their busy season right now so they'll be looking for temporary workers to help out and you'll be able to get on the job training. My other suggestion is to look for audio/visual companies or hotels that do in house audio/visual and you'll learn a lot that way also.
When searching the internet try using the terms "event lighting in Dublin" "Event companies in Dublin" and similar terms. You can also search for scene shops and so on.

What is the point of dialouge between dance and theatre?
Refrencing to companies such as Dv8 company Vincent dance theatre, Motion house light.
oooh where to start- most drama schools insist that would be actors learn the precepts, history and rudiments of dance. This goes back a long long way to the medieval mummers and travelling groups who would act, sing and dance to entertain. A grounding in dance helps and actor to move on stage and screen.
get a book, go to the library, watch Carousel, The Red Shoes. Avoid DV8 and similar 'high concept- low entertainment' po-faced examples of 'high culture w**kfest'.
