I've been at it for hours, until he beats every single last pokemon I have with me. Giratina is ruthlessly strong, especially with its elusive Shadow Force.
Anyway, I chuck Ultra Balls and Timer Balls at him with his health down in deep red, sometimes lighter red. If I'm lucky, and the fog doesn't force me to miss, I can get him to sleep sometimes, but that never proves to help.
Please let me know if you have any tips on what you did to catch Giratina and what you used, etc. Thanks!
