I may be wrong, but from my brief research it seems that your laptop ships with an ATI Motility Radeon HD 2400 XT (256MB) graphics controller. If this is the same in your case then this may be your problem- this graphics card is not supported by Maxis if you are running Freetime with Vista. To run Freetime with Vista you need one of the following Supported Graphics Cards:
ATI Radeon(TM) series (8500 or better)
9600, 9700, 9800
X300, X600, x700, X800, x850
X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
You’re right, that’s something you find footage of, chop up, and then lay a short/simple lighting effect on. Still developing over 24h? But not a tweet or a single picture/video except this one? Just doesn’t seem viable. If it was 10 minutes of shaky cam from someone running through the streets, filming wildly as car alarms and gunshots rang out & swarms of orange orbs zoomed about overhead, we might have more to talk about… But it isn’t.
